2 Chronicles 18:16

Then he said, I did see all Israel scattered upon the mountains, as sheep that have no shepherd: and the LORD said, These have no master; let them return therefore every man to his house in peace.

Micaiah foretold that all Israel would be scattered across the mountains like sheep with no shepherd, for the Lord declared they had no master and each man should return to his own house in peace. This was defeat and dispersal without a leader, with God's word directing the people homeward in peace rather than onward to battle. The kings should have recognized this word as a warning that their proposed campaign did not have God's favor. When Ahab was slain in the battle, the army was dismissed and every man went back to his home, and in that dismissal the prophecy was fulfilled.
