2 Chronicles 18:34

And the battle increased that day: howbeit the king of Israel stayed himself up in his chariot against the Syrians until the even: and about the time of the sun going down he died.

The king of Israel remained propped upright in his chariot facing the Syrian forces as the fighting grew fiercer throughout the day. He held that posture against the enemy from the time of his wounding until evening, refusing to leave the field. About the time of sunset he died in his chariot, with the battle still raging around him. His death fulfilled Micaiah's prophecy that Israel would be left without its king and that the people would return home in peace.
