2 Chronicles 2:10
And, behold, I will give to thy servants, the hewers that cut timber, twenty thousand measures of beaten wheat, and twenty thousand measures of barley, and twenty thousand baths of wine, and twenty thousand baths of oil. And, behold, I will give to thy servants, the hewers that cut timber, twenty thousand measures of beaten wheat, and twenty thousand measures of barley, and twenty thousand baths of wine, and twenty thousand baths of oil.
The verse belongs to the account of Solomon's reign and the building of the temple, a permanent and magnificent sanctuary built with materials and labor supplied in part by Hiram, king of Tyre. It records the provisions Solomon promised and agreed to give to the timber-cutting servants, workers hired from Tyre and Sidon and serving Hiram. The promised amount is twenty thousand measures each of beaten wheat and barley, and twenty thousand baths each of wine and oil. A wheat measure was a cor, or homer, equal to eight bushels, and a bath was six or seven gallons, or one-tenth of a cor. The mention of barley and the larger quantities of wine and oil agrees with the amounts given in this verse.
