2 Chronicles 2:7
Send me now therefore a man cunning to work in gold, and in silver, and in brass, and in iron, and in purple, and crimson, and blue, and that can skill to grave with the cunning men that are with me in Judah and in Jerusalem, whom David my father did provide.
The verse is Solomon's appeal to the king of Tyre for a cunning workman skilled in gold and silver and brass and iron, and in purple and crimson and blue, and able to engrave, to labor with the cunning men with him in Judah and Jerusalem on the temple. The temple for which this craftsman was sought was to be built on Mount Moriah. Solomon should have trusted God to provide consecrated helpers endowed with the skill needed for that work. Instead of so trusting, he sought help from Tyre and relied upon it.
The skilled men on whom he thus relied had turned from God, being descendants of men who had once served God but had become apostate. The request brought the master craftsman Huram, sent by Tyre. His unusual skill was joined to greed, and because of his skill he demanded high wages. Through his mother Huram was descended from Aholiab, to whom God had given special wisdom for the building of the tabernacle.
