2 Chronicles 21:11

Moreover he made high places in the mountains of Judah, and caused the inhabitants of Jerusalem to commit fornication, and compelled Judah thereto.

Jehoram son of Jehoshaphat ascended the throne of Judah upon Jehoshaphat's death, during the time when Jehoram was king over Israel. Through marriage to the daughter of Ahab and Jezebel he was closely allied to the king of Israel, and in his reign he followed after Baal as the house of Ahab had done. His making high places in the mountains of Judah and causing the inhabitants of Jerusalem to commit fornication and compelling Judah thereto was leading Judah and Jerusalem into idolatrous apostasy and spiritual unfaithfulness, pursuing the same course that had brought the northern kingdom to the verge of ruin.

This terrible apostasy was not permitted to continue unreproved, for before his translation Elijah sent Jehoram a written rebuke for causing Judah and Jerusalem to go a whoring after the idolatrous whoredoms of the house of Ahab. The rebuke threatened a great plague upon his people, his children, his wives, and his goods, together with great sickness upon himself. The threat was fulfilled when the Lord stirred up the Philistines and Arabians to carry away all the substance of the royal house with his sons and wives save only the youngest son, and when the Lord smote Jehoram in his bowels with an incurable disease from which after two years of sore diseases he died in severe suffering.
