2 Chronicles 21:20

Thirty and two years old was he when he began to reign, and he reigned in Jerusalem eight years, and departed without being desired. Howbeit they buried him in the city of David, but not in the sepulchres of the kings.

The verse records the end of Jehoram son of Jehoshaphat as king of Judah, who came to the throne on the death of Jehoshaphat during the reign of Jehoram of Israel. By marriage to the daughter of Ahab and Jezebel he was closely joined to the king of Israel and followed Baal as the house of Ahab did, walking not in the ways of his father Jehoshaphat nor in the ways of Asa but in the way of the kings of Israel. His wicked rule included killing his brothers of his father's house who were better than himself, making high places in the mountains of Judah, and causing the inhabitants of Jerusalem and compelling Judah to go astray into idolatrous unfaithfulness like that of the house of Ahab.

He was reproved by a written communication from Elijah sent before Elijah was taken up, declaring that because of this apostasy God would strike his people and his children and his wives and all his goods with a great plague and would strike him with great sickness in his bowels. That warning was fulfilled when God stirred up the spirit of the Philistines and of the Arabians near the Ethiopians against him, so they came up into Judah and broke in and carried away all the substance found in the king's house with his sons and his wives, so that no son was left except the youngest, Jehoahaz, also called Ahaziah and Azariah.

After all this God struck him in his bowels with an incurable disease, and in process of time after the end of two years of suffering he died of severe illness, and his son Ahaziah, also called Jehoahaz, reigned in his place. His death as recorded in the verse fulfilled the announced judgment on his wicked rule and marked his judged end.
