2 Chronicles 21:4
Now when Jehoram was risen up to the kingdom of his father, he strengthened himself, and slew all his brethren with the sword, and divers also of the princes of Israel. Now when Jehoram was risen up to the kingdom of his father, he strengthened himself, and slew all his brethren with the sword, and divers also of the princes of Israel.
Jehoram came to the throne of Judah on the death of his father Jehoshaphat and made his position secure by putting all his brothers to death with the sword, together with some of the princes of Judah. By marriage to the daughter of Ahab and Jezebel he had been brought into close alliance with the royal house of Israel. In harmony with that house he walked in Baal worship, turning from the ways of Asa and Jehoshaphat and drawing Judah into apostasy and idolatry. A message sent to him in writing by Elijah reproved him for forsaking those godly ways, for leading the people into idolatry, and for slaying his brothers who were better than himself. The judgment denounced upon him fell when the Philistines and Arabians invaded, carrying away his goods with his sons and his wives, and when he was smitten with an incurable disease that brought his life to an end.
