2 Chronicles 23:18

Also Jehoiada appointed the offices of the house of the LORD by the hand of the priests the Levites, whom David had distributed in the house of the LORD, to offer the burnt offerings of the LORD, as it is written in the law of Moses, with rejoicing and with singing, as it was ordained by David.

This passage belongs to the account of Athaliah's overthrow and the enthronement of Joash, marking the reestablishment of the worship of the true God after Athaliah's corrupt usurpation. Athaliah, the grandmother of Joash, seized the throne after the death of her son Ahaziah and tried to kill all her son's children to remove them from her way. The infant Joash and his nurse were hidden in the temple by his aunt, the wife of Jehoiada the high priest. When Joash was seven years old Athaliah's reign had become so corrupt that the people revolted, Joash was brought out from hiding and proclaimed king, and Athaliah was slain.

Jehoiada the high priest stands at the center of these events. While he lived the young king remained under his influence, and the house of the Lord was repaired. He later served as Joash's counselor. Jehoiada restored the worship duties in the house of the Lord, assigning the priests and Levites to offer burnt offerings as prescribed in the law of Moses and to worship with rejoicing and singing, following the arrangements David had established, so the worship of the true God with its appointed offerings was established once more.
