2 Chronicles 23:20

And he took the captains of hundreds, and the nobles, and the governors of the people, and all the people of the land, and brought down the king from the house of the LORD: and they came through the high gate into the king’s house, and set the king upon the throne of the kingdom.

After the death of his father Ahaziah, Joash's grandmother Athaliah seized the throne and tried to put to death all of her son's children to put them out of her way. The infant Joash and his nurse were hidden in the temple by his aunt, the wife of Jehoiada the high priest. Joash was seven years old when he was enthroned after his rescue from Athaliah. When Athaliah's reign became corrupt, the people revolted and Joash was brought out from his hiding place.

The verse records Joash being brought down from the house of the Lord to the king's house through the high gate and set upon the throne of the kingdom after Athaliah's rule ended. The captains of hundreds, the nobles, the governors or officials of the people, and all the people of the land took part in bringing him down and establishing him as king. Athaliah was slain in connection with Joash's enthronement. While Jehoiada lived the young king remained under his influence, so the house of the Lord was repaired and the worship of the true God was established once more.
