2 Chronicles 24:23
And it came to pass at the end of the year, that the host of Syria came up against him: and they came to Judah and Jerusalem, and destroyed all the princes of the people from among the people, and sent all the spoil of them unto the king of Damascus.
This verse belongs to the record of the kings in Judah. It stands in the account of the forty-year reign of Joash as king of Judah. That reign was good as long as Jehoiada the priest lived.
Departing from God brought strife, captivity, and great loss during the reign of Joash. The event illustrates the awfulness of sin and the certainty of the judgments that follow it. No further explanation of this event is given beyond the record itself.
