2 Chronicles 24:7
For the sons of Athaliah, that wicked woman, had broken up the house of God; and also all the dedicated things of the house of the LORD did they bestow upon Baalim. For the sons of Athaliah, that wicked woman, had broken up the house of God; and also all the dedicated things of the house of the LORD did they bestow upon Baalim.
After the house of God had been broken open and plundered, its restoration was taken up in the surrounding account of 2 Chronicles 24:4-13, where money for necessary repairs and other expenses of the temple was gathered by a collection separate from the tithe. The tithe itself was devoted exclusively to the Levites who were set apart for sanctuary service, and it was not the limit of giving for religious purposes. That separate temple collection followed the pattern of the half-shekel contribution for the service of the tabernacle, which had been commanded to be taken whenever the people were numbered.
