2 Chronicles 25:8

But if thou wilt go, do it, be strong for the battle: God shall make thee fall before the enemy: for God hath power to help, and to cast down.

God has power both to help and to cast down, so mere strength for the battle does not secure victory when God stands opposed. Being strong and doing one's part is not enough by itself, because the outcome turns on whether God gives help or brings defeat. The verse therefore applies directly to trusting God for help in conflict and need. He gives that help when a person recognizes the need for it and then acts with firm resolve while trusting Him with the whole heart.
