2 Chronicles 27:2

And he did that which was right in the sight of the LORD, according to all that his father Uzziah did: howbeit he entered not into the temple of the LORD. And the people did yet corruptly.

Jotham is counted among the good kings, for he did that which was right in the sight of the Lord according to all that his father Uzziah did. Unlike Uzziah, he did not enter into the temple of the Lord. Despite his righteousness, the people under him still acted corruptly and continued in corrupt ways.

The verse belongs to the history of Judah that provides the setting for biblical events and spiritual lessons. That history belongs in turn to the testimony of Scripture centered on Christ. The account shows that doing duty brought blessing, while departing from God brought strife, captivity, and loss.
