Ephraimites Clothe and Carry the Captives of Judahby emmanuel_higgins

2 Chronicles 28:11

Now hear me therefore, and deliver the captives again, which ye have taken captive of your brethren: for the fierce wrath of the LORD is upon you.

The prophet's message rebuked the northern kingdom for planning to keep their Judahite brothers and sisters taken in battle as slaves and to sell them for gain. It declared that the fierce anger of the Lord rested upon Israel for that purpose, and that such injustice and oppression would bring divine judgment upon themselves. Under that reproof the armed men abandoned both the captives and the plunder before the princes and assembly, while leading men of Ephraim took charge of the prisoners, clothed and fed and cared for them, and escorted them back to their kinsmen. In this the command to release the captives stands as a lasting warning not to enslave or oppress one's own people.
