2 Chronicles 28:21
For Ahaz took away a portion out of the house of the LORD, and out of the house of the king, and of the princes, and gave it unto the king of Assyria: but he helped him not. For Ahaz took away a portion out of the house of the LORD, and out of the house of the king, and of the princes, and gave it unto the king of Assyria: but he helped him not.
2 Chronicles 28:21 belongs to the account of King Ahaz's reign in Judah, a period marked by departure from God and great loss. That reign was a time of sin and darkness in Judah.
Ahaz stripped wealth from the house of the Lord, from the house of the king, and from the princes, and gave it to the king of Assyria to secure his help in war.
The payment did not help him, for giving those resources to Assyria did not bring Ahaz the help he sought.
