2 Chronicles 29:19
Moreover all the vessels, which king Ahaz in his reign did cast away in his transgression, have we prepared and sanctified, and, behold, they are before the altar of the LORD. Moreover all the vessels, which king Ahaz in his reign did cast away in his transgression, have we prepared and sanctified, and, behold, they are before the altar of the LORD.
The priests and Levites began at once the work of cleansing and sanctifying the temple. They entered upon the task heartily, putting themselves fully into the effort of restoration. As they worked they enlisted the cooperation of others of their own number, drawing fellow priests and Levites into united labor. They labored untiringly in the face of many difficulties created by years of desecration and neglect, yet they completed the undertaking within a remarkably short time. That completed work included repairing the temple doors and throwing them open, and gathering the sacred vessels that Ahaz had cast away, preparing and sanctifying them and setting them in their proper place before the altar, so that all was ready for the reestablishment of the sanctuary services.
