Hezekiah Opens the Doors of the Templeby emmanuel_higgins

2 Chronicles 29:3

He in the first year of his reign, in the first month, opened the doors of the house of the LORD, and repaired them.

Hezekiah moved without delay to restore the house of God, beginning the work in the first month of the first year of his reign. His call for reform was answered at once by the priests and Levites, who were soon joined by others of their number who had not been present at the first summons, and together they threw themselves heartily into cleansing and sanctifying the temple. The task they faced was full of difficulties, for years of desecration and neglect had left their mark on every part.

Yet the workers pressed on untiringly and brought the cleansing to completion in a remarkably short time. The doors of the temple were repaired and thrown open, the sacred vessels were gathered and set in their proper places, and everything was made ready for the reestablishment of the sanctuary services.
