Solomon Dedicates the Temple in Jerusalemby KandD

2 Chronicles 3:17

And he reared up the pillars before the temple, one on the right hand, and the other on the left; and called the name of that on the right hand Jachin, and the name of that on the left Boaz.

2 Chronicles 3:17 belongs to the account of Solomon's temple, a permanent sanctuary built on the same general plan as Moses' tabernacle but on a larger and grander scale. It was erected over seven years and six months. Its vessels were increased in size and number compared with those of the tabernacle.

Like the tabernacle, the temple had two holy places. It was built according to the pattern David received by the Spirit. It was used for the same sacred ministry as the tabernacle.

Its two-part arrangement showed that it followed the pattern of the sanctuary and serves as a pattern of the heavenly temple, which likewise has two holy places. The whole temple, not only its innermost room, was a pattern of the heavenly sanctuary.
