2 Chronicles 3:5
And the greater house he cieled with fir tree, which he overlaid with fine gold, and set thereon palm trees and chains. And the greater house he cieled with fir tree, which he overlaid with fine gold, and set thereon palm trees and chains.
The greater house of Solomon's temple, described in 2 Chronicles 3:5-7, was gloriously adorned, its fir paneling overlaid with fine gold and set with palm trees and chains. That lavish use of gold upon God's house gives no warrant for wearing gold to improve personal appearance. The human body is fallen, and the immense price paid for its redemption calls for humility rather than display. Those who would dwell with Christ in heaven must take His meekness and self-denial as their pattern.
