Solomon Touches the Gold-Overlaid Cedar of the Templeby emmanuel_higgins

2 Chronicles 3:7

He overlaid also the house, the beams, the posts, and the walls thereof, and the doors thereof, with gold; and graved cherubims on the walls.

Solomon's temple was gloriously adorned, with the house itself together with its beams, posts, walls, and doors overlaid with gold. Its walls were also engraved with cherubim as part of that splendid decoration. That golden splendor of the sacred building is no proper example for adorning the human body with gold. Fallen human beings were redeemed at the cost of Christ's suffering and death. Those so redeemed are therefore to follow Jesus in humility and self-denial rather than in outward display.
