2 Chronicles 31:19
Also of the sons of Aaron the priests, which were in the fields of the suburbs of their cities, in every several city, the men that were expressed by name, to give portions to all the males among the priests, and to all that were reckoned by genealogies among the Levites.
The verse belongs to Hezekiah's restoration of temple worship, when the people provided for the priests and Levites. The people's tithes and offerings were abundant and continuing, and were faithfully stored and distributed to support these religious workers. This organized provision for the priests and Levites stands as an example of liberality.
Portions were assigned in every several city, including to priests living in the fields of the suburbs, to all the males among the priests and to all reckoned by genealogies among the Levites. The men expressed by name were appointed distributors in each city to give out the portions. Named men in each city distributed the portions to the priests and to the Levites identified by their genealogies, including the priests living in the surrounding fields.
The same phrase, men expressed by name, is also taken to describe the recipients themselves, who were identified by name or counted by their genealogies.
