Hezekiah Spreads Sennacherib's Letter Before the LORDBible World

2 Chronicles 32:20

And for this cause Hezekiah the king, and the prophet Isaiah the son of Amoz, prayed and cried to heaven.

The prayer arose when the Assyrian spokesman had reproached the living God, blaspheming Him and threatening Jerusalem in its day of trouble and rebuke and blasphemy. Hezekiah sent to Isaiah asking him to lift up prayer for the remnant that were left, that the Lord would hear all the words of Rabshakeh and reprove them. In that crisis Hezekiah the king and Isaiah the prophet prayed and cried to heaven together in united prayer.

God answered their prayer through Isaiah with a message to Hezekiah not to be afraid of the words by which the servants of the king of Assyria had blasphemed Him. He declared He would send a blast upon Sennacherib so that he would hear a rumor. He declared further that the Assyrian king would return to his own land and fall by the sword there.
