Hezekiah consulted with his princes and his mighty military men to plan the defense of Jerusalem against Assyria. They joined with him in helping to prepare the city to endure a siege. Their joint work secured a plentiful supply of water inside the city while stopping the waters of the fountains outside it, so that water would be available within and limited without. This cooperation in practical measures was part of the defense of the kingdom.
