2 Chronicles 33:20

So Manasseh slept with his fathers, and they buried him in his own house: and Amon his son reigned in his stead.

This verse closes the life and reign of Manasseh, noting his death and burial and that his son Amon took his place as king. Manasseh had been born during the fifteen years added to Hezekiah's life in answer to prayer. His reign lasted fifty-five years, making it one of the longest reigns.

He had become exceptionally wicked, one of the wickedest kings Judah ever had. Yet after being carried prisoner by the Assyrians he humbled himself in repentance and learned to know God, and God restored him and accepted him, so that he stands as a marvelous instance of God's wonderful mercy.

Amon who succeeded him was a wicked king who followed his father's former wicked course. He was a foolish successor. His wickedness brought great trouble upon the kingdom in the time of Judah's rapid decline. He reigned two years before being assassinated by his servants.
