2 Chronicles 34:33
And Josiah took away all the abominations out of all the countries that pertained to the children of Israel, and made all that were present in Israel to serve, even to serve the LORD their God. And all his days they departed not from following the LORD, the God of their fathers.
Josiah took away all the abominations and idolatrous, detestable practices out of all the countries and territories belonging to the children of Israel. He did this good work well, putting down idolatry and apparently succeeding for the time in uprooting it. In connection with this cleansing he reopened the temple and re-established the sacrificial offerings. He made all who were present in Israel to serve, even to serve the Lord their God, requiring and bringing them to that service.
As a result, all his days they departed not from following the Lord, the God of their fathers, but continued with Him through his lifetime. This was Israel's repentant return to God in response to the recovered law, entering into a covenant to keep His commandments. It exemplifies the deep repentance and return to God that is looked for when God's law is read.
