2 Chronicles 34:6
And so did he in the cities of Manasseh, and Ephraim, and Simeon, even unto Naphtali, with their mattocks round about. And so did he in the cities of Manasseh, and Ephraim, and Simeon, even unto Naphtali, with their mattocks round about.
In the eighth year of his reign, while still young, Josiah consecrated himself fully to God. At the age of twenty he made an earnest effort to remove temptation from his subjects by purging idolatry. Not content to stop with thorough work in Judah and Jerusalem, he carried that same campaign beyond Judah into the portions of Palestine formerly occupied by the ten tribes of Israel. He did so in the cities of Manasseh and Ephraim and Simeon, even unto Naphtali.
That northern region held only a small, feeble remnant among ruined homes, which he worked across, traversing its length and breadth. Throughout all the land of Israel he broke down the altars and the groves, beat the carved images into powder, and cut down and destroyed the idols. When that work was finished, he returned to Jerusalem.
