2 Chronicles 35:13

And they roasted the passover with fire according to the ordinance: but the other holy offerings sod they in pots, and in caldrons, and in pans, and divided them speedily among all the people.

The verse belongs to the account of Josiah's Passover, describing how the Passover offerings were prepared and distributed among the people during that observance. Josiah's Passover was a renewal of hope for Israel shortly before its deeper apostasy. The feast is recalled as a time when God blessed His people, connecting the Passover with reverent and modest conduct in worship.

The verse belongs to the contemporary history of the times of the kings of Israel and Judah, whose value lies in widening the horizon and presenting a setting for the events recorded in the Bible, and in the precious spiritual lessons to be gleaned from daily reading. Like the rest of the Old Testament history, it was not written to exalt man but is directly connected with God's historical revelation which culminated in Christ. From Him as the central light illuminating rays are shed through the whole of Scripture, holding together all its various parts. He is testified of as the fount of knowledge and wisdom unto salvation and eternal life.
