2 Chronicles 35:15
And the singers the sons of Asaph were in their place, according to the commandment of David, and Asaph, and Heman, and Jeduthun the king’s seer; and the porters waited at every gate; they might not depart from their service; for their brethren the Levites prepared for them.
The verse belongs to the account of the great Passover held by King Josiah during his reign. Josiah was one of Judah's best and most devoted kings, whose death Jeremiah lamented. The account stands within the story of Judah's decline, yet Josiah's Passover was a spiritual revival that raised hope for Israel shortly before the nation's final descent into idolatry and sin.
The verse records that the singers and the gatekeepers served in their assigned places, with the porters waiting at every gate and not departing from their service because their fellow Levites prepared for them. Jeduthun as the king's seer was a prophet, and he with the others directed the singing, showing that the singers and seers held a prophetic office in leading worship. Their service was performed according to the commandment of David, Asaph, Heman, and Jeduthun, showing service under divine command. Its setting recalls sacred worship marked by reverence, orderly service, and God's blessing on His ancient people.
