2 Chronicles 35:19

In the eighteenth year of the reign of Josiah was this passover kept.

The verse belongs to the history of Judah's decline during the reign of Josiah. Josiah was one of Judah's best and most devoted kings. He was the last king in Jerusalem who obeyed God's commandments and statutes.

The verse dates the keeping of this passover to the eighteenth year of his reign. Like Hezekiah's Passover, Josiah's Passover was a time when God blessed His ancient people. It was a revival of hope for Israel shortly before the people's final descent into idolatry and sin.

Josiah's reign shows that a great religious revival leads to missionary endeavor. The end of his reign in 607 B.C. ended Israel's years of release and Jubilees and began a 2,450-year period reaching to the great Jubilee in 1843.
