And all the vessels of the house of God, great and small, and the treasures of the house of the LORD, and the treasures of the king, and of his princes; all these he brought to Babylon. The carrying of all the vessels and treasures to Babylon was the fulfillment of the calamity that came because of Israel's unfaithfulness. In that judgment God permitted His people to be taken captive and permitted the temple to be destroyed. Before that destruction the sacred ark holding the tables of stone was taken away and concealed in a cave. There it has remained undisturbed ever since, and it has never been restored to Israel.
