2 Chronicles 5:6
Also king Solomon, and all the congregation of Israel that were assembled unto him before the ark, sacrificed sheep and oxen, which could not be told nor numbered for multitude. Also king Solomon, and all the congregation of Israel that were assembled unto him before the ark, sacrificed sheep and oxen, which could not be told nor numbered for multitude.
The verse portrays Solomon with the entire congregation of Israel gathered before the ark at the moment the temple stood complete for its formal dedication to Jehovah and His worship. That gathering occurred in the seventh month at the feast of tabernacles, a season of rejoicing after the harvest ingathering when people from every part of the kingdom were free from care and able to assemble at Jerusalem. The great congregation shared in bringing up the wilderness tabernacle with all its holy furniture, including the ark of the testament, into the temple. It was a scene of great splendor, with the hosts of Israel and richly clad representatives of many foreign nations assembled before the temple.
