2 Chronicles 5:7
And the priests brought in the ark of the covenant of the LORD unto his place, to the oracle of the house, into the most holy place, even under the wings of the cherubims: And the priests brought in the ark of the covenant of the LORD unto his place, to the oracle of the house, into the most holy place, even under the wings of the cherubims:
The appointed time had come for the dedication of the newly completed temple after several years of building, in the seventh month at the Feast of Tabernacles, when harvest labor had ended and the people were free from care in a season of rejoicing. A great congregation had gathered at Jerusalem, with the hosts of Israel from every part of the kingdom assembling in the temple courts in unusual splendor, together with richly clad representatives from many foreign nations. Before the ark was brought in, Solomon with the elders of Israel and the most influential men had gone to another part of the city to bring it up.
What was brought was the sacred ark of the testament containing the two tables of stone on which the precepts of the Decalogue were written by the finger of God, together with the wilderness tabernacle and all its holy furniture. In bringing it to the temple Solomon followed the example of his father David by sacrificing every six paces, and the procession moved forward with great ceremony amid singing and music. With that ceremony the priests carried the ark to its place to the oracle of the house into the most holy place under the wings of the cherubim, then came out of the inner sanctuary to take their assigned places in the court for the dedicatory service before the glory of the Lord filled the house, while the Levitical singers arrayed in white linen with cymbals and psalteries and harps stood at the east end of the altar with one hundred and twenty priests sounding with trumpets.
