2 Chronicles 6:10

The LORD therefore hath performed his word that he hath spoken: for I am risen up in the room of David my father, and am set on the throne of Israel, as the LORD promised, and have built the house for the name of the LORD God of Israel.

The verse stands in Solomon's spoken prayer after the temple was erected, offered kneeling upon a brazen scaffold in the presence and hearing of the people of Israel, with its words preserved and given in the Bible. It declares that the Lord performed His word spoken to David, for Solomon had risen up in the room of David his father and was set on the throne of Israel as the Lord promised, and had built the house for the name of the Lord God of Israel. At the dedication Solomon recalled that David himself had been in heart to build a house for the Lord, but the Lord appointed David's son to build it.

That appointed work Solomon had now completed, and he had placed in the temple the ark containing the covenant. The covenant in the ark was the one God made with the fathers of Israel when He brought them out of Egypt.

The prayer to which the verse belongs was answered when, as the prayer ended, the Lord sent fire from heaven and consumed the burnt offering. The Lord also appeared to Solomon by night, saying that He had heard his prayer.
