2 Chronicles 6:19

Have respect therefore to the prayer of thy servant, and to his supplication, O LORD my God, to hearken unto the cry and the prayer which thy servant prayeth before thee:

The verse belongs to Solomon's vocal prayer at the dedication of the finished temple, in which he earnestly and humbly pleads for God to respect, attend to, and hearken to his prayer, supplication, and cry offered before Him. He offered it kneeling on a raised brazen platform or scaffold, in the presence and hearing of all assembled Israel, with many nations also present, while the people bowed before God. The prayer was public, spoken aloud before the congregation gathered for worship.

Its request asks God to hear prayer and supplication made toward that place and to answer from heaven, forgiving those who turn back to Him. Though God put His name at the house dedicated to His worship and keeps His eyes open toward it night and day to hear prayer made toward it, He is not like the heathen gods confined to temples built for them. He meets His people there by His Spirit when they assemble, and He also visits and encourages them in their homes and wherever they may be.

Its words are preserved in the Bible as evidence for public prayer. After the prayer ended God sent fire from heaven that consumed the burnt offering and appeared to Solomon by night saying He had heard his prayer.
