2 Chronicles 6:25

Then hear thou from the heavens, and forgive the sin of thy people Israel, and bring them again unto the land which thou gavest to them and to their fathers.

2 Chronicles 6:25 is part of Solomon's prayer and belongs to the account of Solomon's life and the history that followed his reign. The prayer was offered after the temple was erected, at its dedication. Solomon spoke the prayer aloud while kneeling on a brazen scaffold in the presence and hearing of the people of Israel, and his words are recorded in the Bible.

When Israel is defeated because of sin, if the people return, confess sin and confess God's name, and pray toward the temple before Him, He hears from heaven, forgives their sin, and restores them to the land given to them and their ancestors. After the prayer the Lord said He had heard Solomon's prayer, appearing to him by night to tell him so. When the prayer ended, fire came from heaven and consumed the burnt offering.

The prayer shows God is not confined to the temple; by His Spirit He meets His people when they gather for worship and visits and encourages them in their homes and wherever they may be, so His children can worship Him in every place. The verse stands in the Word of God as evidence for vocal, public prayer.
