2 Chronicles 7:2
And the priests could not enter into the house of the LORD, because the glory of the LORD had filled the LORD’s house. And the priests could not enter into the house of the LORD, because the glory of the LORD had filled the LORD’s house.
The verse concerns the house Solomon built for worship and dedicated to God's service. Solomon assembled Israel with many nations and knelt before the congregation to pray that God would hear prayer made toward the house, though heaven and the heaven of heavens cannot contain Him. After Solomon's prayer, fire came down from heaven and consumed the burnt offering and the sacrifices. Then the Lord's glory, the Shekinah, filled and glorified the temple so fully and completely that the priests could not enter it. That filling marked God's presence in the house and showed His approval, and He put His name there.
The God of Israel is not shut up in a temple like heathen gods, but meets His people by His Spirit when they gather in the house dedicated to Him. When all Israel saw the fire descending and the glory resting on the house, they bowed face down on the pavement in worship and praised the Lord for His goodness and enduring mercy. Afterward the temple remained to all appearance the same as when glorified, except for additional embellishment. It was still a palace glittering with gold and precious stones in grandeur, loveliness and beauty and still sought by worshipers of every nation, yet God was no longer to be found in it.
