2 Chronicles 8:7

As for all the people that were left of the Hittites, and the Amorites, and the Perizzites, and the Hivites, and the Jebusites, which were not of Israel,

2 Chronicles 8:7 belongs to the first portion of 2 Chronicles, chapters 1 to 9, which gives the history of the undivided kingdom under Solomon in chronological order and covers the same events as 1 Kings 1 to 11. Within that portion special attention belongs to the building and furniture of the temple, with the dedication prayer and sacrifices and the divine answer to Solomon's prayer. In its immediate setting the verse belongs to the record of Solomon's treatment of the Canaanites left in the land, given together with his various building projects, matters connected with his wife the daughter of Pharaoh, his appointments of the priests, and his ships sent to Ophir for gold.
