2 Chronicles 9:16

And three hundred shields made he of beaten gold: three hundred shekels of gold went to one shield. And the king put them in the house of the forest of Lebanon.

The three hundred shields of beaten gold belong to the history of Solomon's reign over the undivided kingdom, set forth in chronological order. They stand in the closing account of that reign. They display his wonderful wisdom and riches, including his plans for the service of the house of God and his enterprise in commerce. They belong to the record of his vast riches and the luxury and magnificence of his court, things that led him astray.
