2 Chronicles 9:19
And twelve lions stood there on the one side and on the other upon the six steps. There was not the like made in any kingdom. And twelve lions stood there on the one side and on the other upon the six steps. There was not the like made in any kingdom.
The verse belongs to the closing account of Solomon's wonderful wisdom and riches. That history runs continuously from the end of David's reign through the building and dedication of the temple. It then moves on to Solomon's arrangements for the service of the house of God and to his enterprises in commerce.
The throne it describes was of ivory overlaid with gold. Twelve lions stood upon its six steps, on the one side and on the other. There was not the like made in any kingdom. This unmatched work marks the exceptional splendor of Solomon's reign.
That royal splendor, great as it was, is surpassed by the glory God gives to even one lily. That greater glory comes through the life and power of nature.
