The Queen of Sheba Meets King SolomonBible World

2 Chronicles 9:3

And when the queen of Sheba had seen the wisdom of Solomon, and the house that he had built,

The queen of Sheba had heard reports of Solomon's wisdom and of the magnificent temple he had built, and she determined to prove him with hard questions and to see his famous works for herself, coming for personal inspection of the remarkable reality she had come to examine. She came to Jerusalem with a retinue of servants and with camels bearing spices and gold in abundance and precious stones. She communed with Solomon of all that was in her heart, talking with him of the mysteries of nature.

Solomon told her all her questions, with nothing hid from him, and his wisdom, which was from God, gave him the opportunity to teach her about God. He taught her of the God of nature, the great Creator who dwells in the highest heaven and rules over all, the Creator of the heavens and the earth. When she had seen his wisdom and the house that he had built, she was left overwhelmed, with no more spirit in her.

She confessed that the report she had heard in her own land of his acts and wisdom was true, though she had not believed it until her own eyes had seen it. The half had not been told her, for his wisdom and prosperity exceeded the fame she had heard. She called happy his men and his servants who stood continually before him to hear his wisdom.

By the close of the visit she had been so fully taught the divine source of his wisdom and prosperity that instead of extolling the human agent she blessed the Lord his God for setting him on the throne of Israel to do judgment and justice. This was the witness to all peoples that God designed, and for a time Solomon honored God by pointing all the kings of the earth who sought his God-given wisdom to the Creator, the Ruler of the universe, the All-wise.
