2 Corinthians 1:16

And to pass by you into Macedonia, and to come again out of Macedonia unto you, and of you to be brought on my way toward Judaea.

Paul intended to pass through Corinth on his way into Macedonia, then to return to Corinth after leaving Macedonia, and from there to be helped forward by the believers on his journey toward Judea. The opening part of that itinerary, the early visit to Corinth before going to Macedonia, was changed under God's guidance. He delayed his coming so the church would have time to heed his letter and correct its evils. That postponement allowed his later visit to take place in love and meekness rather than as a visit of correction.
