2 Corinthians 10:6

And having in a readiness to revenge all disobedience, when your obedience is fulfilled.

Second Corinthians 10:6 stands within a chapter that recounts the difficulties Paul faced and his defense of his course of action. That setting makes the verse part of an apostolic self-vindication, not an isolated maxim about discipline. In that defense Paul is asserting the authority God gave him over the church. That authority was given for edification, to build the church up, and not for its destruction.
