2 Kings 1:18
Now the rest of the acts of Ahaziah which he did, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel? Now the rest of the acts of Ahaziah which he did, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel?
The closing formula for Ahaziah belongs to the larger downfall of Ahab's house and dynasty. It marks the end of a brief reign whose weakness and failure were inherited from his father Ahab. Ahab was by nature covetous, and under Jezebel's strengthening and sustaining influence in wrongdoing he became wholly dominated by selfishness. He came to feel entitled to whatever he desired, and that unchecked self-seeking brought disaster upon the kingdom under his successors.
