2 Kings 10:31

But Jehu took no heed to walk in the law of the LORD God of Israel with all his heart: for he departed not from the sins of Jeroboam, which made Israel to sin.

Jehu did not give his whole heart to walking in the law of the Lord God of Israel. He failed to take heed to follow that law fully, withholding complete devotion while still claiming to serve God. He did not depart from the sins of Jeroboam by which Israel was made to sin, but continued in those sinful practices. That continuance exposed his divided loyalty, showing a heart split between outward zeal for the Lord and inward clinging to idolatry.

Such zeal without wholehearted obedience turns inward and becomes self-directed. Instead of speaking with gentleness that refreshes the hearer and wins souls, it pours out harsh and unsuitable words. The failure is therefore not only in worship but in speech and spirit, where force replaces love.

The same danger follows anyone in a position of influence who begins years of service in Jehu's spirit. To serve for a long course of years without wholehearted obedience to God sets in motion a harvest according to what has been sown. Influential service of that kind will reap its own consequences, as Jehu's example warns.
