2 Kings 10:5
And he that was over the house, and he that was over the city, the elders also, and the bringers up of the children, sent to Jehu, saying, We are thy servants, and will do all that thou shalt bid us; we will not make any king: do thou that which is good in thine eyes.
Once Jehu had been proclaimed king, those entrusted with authority in Samaria sent word to him in full submission. The men over the household and over the city, together with the elders and the guardians of the children, yielded themselves as his servants. They pledged to do everything he directed and declared they would set up no rival king. That surrender moved forward his work against the house of Ahab, in which he fulfilled a commission given by God to put to death those who remained in sin and drew others into it.
