2 Kings 10:8
And there came a messenger, and told him, saying, They have brought the heads of the king’s sons. And he said, Lay ye them in two heaps at the entering in of the gate until the morning. And there came a messenger, and told him, saying, They have brought the heads of the king’s sons. And he said, Lay ye them in two heaps at the entering in of the gate until the morning.
A messenger arrived to announce that the severed heads of the king's sons, the sons of Ahab, had been brought in, and Jehu commanded that they be stacked in two piles at the entrance of the gate and left there until morning. This grim piling of heads took place at Jezreel in the course of his putting to death the surviving members of Ahab's house. In so doing he was carrying out the judgment that had been announced against that family.
The spirit and manner shown by Jehu in this dealing stands as a warning not to let self govern the worker for souls. It warns especially against harsh speech and against speaking in a way unbecoming to the work of winning souls.
