Athaliah Standing Over the Fallen Royal FamilyBible World
11:12 Kings 11:1
And when Athaliah the mother of Ahaziah saw that her son was dead, she arose and destroyed all the seed royal.
After her son Ahaziah, the king of Judah, died, Athaliah arose to act. She sought to secure the throne for herself by destroying all the seed royal, killing the royal descendants of David who could inherit it. Joash, still a baby, survived because the high priest's wife hid him in the temple precincts.
