The crowning took place after the royal heir Joash had been kept hidden for six years during the reign of Athaliah. He was brought out publicly, had the crown placed upon him, received the testimony, and was made king and anointed. The Levites and the people of Judah joined in acclaiming him, clapping their hands and crying out for God to save and protect the king.
