2 Kings 12:5
Let the priests take it to them, every man of his acquaintance: and let them repair the breaches of the house, wheresoever any breach shall be found. Let the priests take it to them, every man of his acquaintance: and let them repair the breaches of the house, wheresoever any breach shall be found.
The instruction was for each priest to receive money from those he knew and to use it to repair the breaks in the house wherever any break should be found. Taken with the preceding verse, this shows that the tithe was set apart exclusively for the Levites and was by no means the limit of giving for religious purposes. Necessary repairs and other expenses connected with God's house were met by separate gifts beyond the tithe. Just as the tabernacle and afterward the temple had been erected wholly by freewill offerings, so their upkeep was provided for by additional contributions.
