2 Kings 13:10

In the thirty and seventh year of Joash king of Judah began Jehoash the son of Jehoahaz to reign over Israel in Samaria, and reigned sixteen years.

The accession of Jehoash son of Jehoahaz as king over Israel in Samaria is dated to the thirty-seventh year of Joash king of Judah, with a reign of sixteen years. His sixteen-year reign fell in the time when the ten tribes were devastated and made tributary to Hazael king of Syria. Elisha died during Jehoash's reign, about 796 B.C.

The same chapter joins the account of his reign to the account of Elisha's final sickness. In that sickness Elisha sought to teach Jehoash persistence and faithfulness, but Jehoash failed to learn the lesson.
